From the moment that the family is informed of the tragic news, until the child graduates university, the IDFWO is on hand to support and help those left behind. In typesetting, widows and orphans are lines at the beginning or end of a paragraph which are left dangling at the top or bottom of a page or column, separated from the rest of the paragraph. Last summer I was lucky to spend time with 21 teenagers from the IDF Widows and Orphans Organization, as they spent time with us during their Bar/Bat Mitzvah Trip to North America. The organization provides social, emotional and financial support to widows and orphans who have suffered the greatest loss: that of a husband and/or father. The IDF Widows and Orphans Organization is very important to me, and as my Bat Mitzvah project, I am excited to have the opportunity to raise money on its behalf. IDF Widows and Orphans Organization is the sole non-profit organization recognized by the State of Israel that represents and supports the widows and orphans of Israel’s fallen soldiers.
